RE: 08 Keystone Passport 280BH opinions

Okay, I USED to be an owner of a 2007 Passport 280BH! After many leaking issues (the slide was in each time) and some other issues we fought with Keystone and the dealer and finally made a deal to upgrade to a 2009 280 BH (not free of charge of course!). So far we have found no leaking issues. I can tell you that I have noticed the slides in the 09 that we have and the 08 that we looked at are different then the slide that was in my 07. I love the layout of the campers, both the 07 and 09 are exactly the same layout. We spent almost 52 nights in our 07 camper in one season and minus the water leaking and some other small issues we loved the camper. If it weren't for the leak we wouldn't of switched to the 2009. In all honesty, take it from someone who has had their fair share of fights with Keystone, I do enjoy our new camper (we haven't used it much though since I am pregnant and we are working on getting our house ready for the new arrival). For the money, weight, size and layout you will be very happy with it! The only changes we made in this camper right away was the steps and we also added shocks to the bed so I could lift it easier since we have a real queen matress on ours (we purchased) instead of the foam******they give you. So to make a long story short, if you have looked at everything closely and are happy with it, I would go for it. You know what to look out for, so it will make your job easier. You could very easily have the same issues with another manufacturers camper! Best of luck and many well wishes in your travels and hunt for a new camper!

RE: Tor vehicles for small TT's, and MPG's

We are towing with a 2005 Yukon Xl (7 passenger) to tow a 280BH Keystone Passport. We are getting anywhere from 12 to 16 towing from what we have seen so far. Without towing we are getting 16-22.

RE: Passport 290BH bunk size

Our 280BH has a bunk in it. The top bunk is long enough for a 5'6" person to lay in it, of course it is a single. However, our bottom bunk is a double bed with the bottom corn cut at an angle. My husband and myself have both slept in it side by side at one time. However, his feet hung out over due to the cut corner. I hope that might help a little!

RE: Weird trade in value issue, book error??

Here is a head scratcher for you! We had an 07 Keystone Passport 280BH, due to leaking we looked to trade it in (they already attempted to fix it three times) and there was NO value listed for any of the Passports. In fact there wasn't even a listing for Passport in the book. I know they just came out in 2007 but still there should be a value! We ended up getting a 2009 so we are now up two years verse our original goal of an 08.

RE: Problems with new 2008 Keystone Passport

I can't say we had the issue you are having with our 2007 Passport 280BH, but we had our fair share of issues. The number one was a leak in the slide. They attempted to fix it three times, after that it still leaked, I said enough was enough and the dealer bought it back (sort of) and we bought a 2009 Keystone Passport 280BH. We just got it home this week and have our first trip planned this weekend. We are crossing our fingers that this one doesn't have near the issues. We are hoping the 07 was a lemon and it was because it was a new run at that time. Best of luck! My only suggestion is: if you have the issue again, notify Keystone that this is your dealers second shot at fixing it! That way you are covered if it happens again and then Keystone will most likely attempt to fix it!

RE: Need help with brake controller please!

Thanks for the quick response. The harness is the GM one that came with the vehicle so I'm in good shape there. So you are saying that the fuse goes in aux stud #1 where the red plastic dummy fuse is?

Need help with brake controller please!

My wife and I just got an '05 Yukon XL and I need help with the brake controller. I found a spot in the fuse box near the brake pedal for a trailer 6 way connector. Is this where I plug the harness for the controller? Also there is a 30amp fuse in the box under the hood for the trailer power wire. The harness with the vehicle comes with a 40amp fuse. Should I switch the two of theese. Your help is greatly appreciated. Thanks.

RE: Passport Leaking AGAIN -4TH TIME

Just wanted to update everyone! We are picking up our 2009 Passport on June 14th. We ended up fighting with Keystone and the dealer got involved. We are loosing money as far as I am concerned but apparently that doesn't matter to anyone! At this stage I am just ready to be out of the 07!

RE: Passport Leaking AGAIN -4TH TIME

I'm not sure, but now they need to do something fast! I am done with this camper. They need to replace the camper! I already have a 08 picked out at a dealer. They just need to call me back and get the ball rolling. I'm obviously fed up with the situation all together, so now is the time to make it right.

RE: AN RV LEMON - PASSPORT FIXED TWICE STILL PROBLEMS

Thought I would post here as well, it has been two months and here we go again! The camper was returned from the manufacturer claiming it was "fixed", well sad to say but it is leaking again! So I am awaiting a response from customer service regarding the pictures I sent them this morning! Thought I would bring everyone up to date~

RE: Passport Leaking AGAIN -4TH TIME

The leak is noticed mainly when the slide is IN. The camper has been sitting at our home for the last three weeks completely level with the slide IN and sure enough it is still leaking. It is definetely the slide. They did a TON of work to the slide and said they had "fixed" it and we should not have the problem again! Well guess who was wrong! It is now 11:33 and the csr won't answer his phone, I get his voicemail. I just left a message. They were to get back to me with anything before lunch. Well so far nothing. I better hear from them before 2 pm today or it is not going to be pretty. I am actually contacting a lawyer I used before for a matter and I am going to get his professional opinion on what to do.

Passport Leaking AGAIN -4TH TIME

Yes, you read the subject right. Our 07 Keystone Passport is still leaking. After the dealer had two attempts and the manufacturer had an attempt (they had it for two weeks in the state of Indiana and we're from PA), we are still having leaking issues. I called the manufacturer first thing this morning to tell them that I was done with this camper. I sent them electronic pictures, and am awaiting a phone call back as to what they are going to do. The last time they "fixed" the camper they said that if it happened again that they would look at buying the camper back and helping us get into another one. So I am awaiting their call. If I don't hear by lunch I may consider calling my lawyer! I have picked out a 2008 model, we are limited due to our tow vehicle and we can't afford to buy a new tow vehicle or have an increased loan since out first child is due in December. So please keep your thoughts and prayers with us, hopefully this whole thing works out!

1st Baby - Need Camping Advice

We are due to have our first baby around Thanksgiving. We are planning to go seasonal next year at a place about 40 minutes from our home. The reason for us going seasonal is because we are so close on weight limits as it is let alone adding all the extra weight for the baby stuff. So my question to you folks is.... Do you have any suggestions for these first time parents to incorporate their baby in this camping world? I had read a past thread about ways to set the baby up in the camper. If anyone has any pictures of the way they do it that would be great! Thank you in advance for your comments and suggestions. We are really excited to start our baby camping right away! I grew up camping and it has given me some of the best memories! Post moved from TT Forum to Family Camping Forum Moderator - TT Forum

RE: Recomendations for a good replacement queen size mattress

We just went and bought a regular queen matress from a shop nearby our house. It ran a little under $300 but feels wonderful. Plus you don't have to contend with toppers that way! We used a topper on our old matress that came with the camper because we hated the matress. But it wasn't enough!

RE: Passport vs Heartland vs Surveyor

I currently own a 280BH Passport. I loved my passport to it leaked. Now after the dealer couldn't fix it twice the manufacturer is picking it up and hauling from PA to Indiana and fixing it. We may have figured out the problem. Please know the reason I think it wasn't fixed the first two times was because of who the dealer is! I would definetely recommend a Passport even though we had this issue. EVERY manufacturer has issues here and there, there isn't a single one that you won't find that has had problems, especially with a slide. I have attached a link to my pictures online of our camper. There is an album of pictures of just the leaks and then some other albums. Please feel free to take a look! My webshots album!

Found the problem (I think) for the RV LEMON - Passport

I believe we found the issue of where the water is coming from in our camper! I took this picture this morning. Keep in mind the slide has been in since Monday night! The manufacturer is picking the camper up on the 27th of this month and hauling it from PA to Indiana! So they are going to tear it apart and fix everything! Here is a link to my webshots picture of the leaking camper! Leaking camper picture of slide!

RE: AN RV LEMON - PASSPORT FIXED TWICE STILL PROBLEMS

I am going to ask that everyone please stop telling me not to bite their head off! I DID NOT bit their head off. I clarified what I said in another one of my posts more recently on this thread. I have been nothing but nice to the manufacturer. The dealer is my problem. We are going to give the manufacturer a chance to fix the camper. If they are successful we will be happy but we may still look to trade it in next year. If they are unsuccessful they have already told me we would look at trading for a newer model. I know that every manufacturer has a camper here and there that has issues. I was unfortunate to get this one this time. We will get through this, it is not the end of the world. As long as the manufacturer continues to stand by their product and be nice about it, I am happy! They are trying to do everything they can to get this back out to us in a two week time frame. So here is hoping that we luck out and it's quicker! Thanks to everyone for their advice!
